Student Assistance Awards

Student Assistance Awards are available to pre-college piano students studying with AAPF members. These awards are given so that students and families with financial need can continue their private piano instruction and Summer music programs.

The Asheville Piano Competition

The Asheville Piano Competition is open to all pre-college piano students who study with an AAPF teaching member and both of whom reside within a 75-mile radius of Asheville. Its purpose is to offer young pianists the opportunity to perform in a professional and encouraging atmosphere and to receive written evaluations from outstanding professionals in piano pedagogy.

Benefit Concerts

The AAPF presents two Benefit Concerts each season. All proceeds from these Benefits go towards our piano educational outreach.

Master Classes

These are great opportunities for students to get direct feedback from experienced pianists outside of their regular lessons.

Performance Groups

AAPF hosts monthly Performance Groups open to members at various homes in the area. There are two separate performance groups: The regular Performance Group, open to all members, and the Adult Amateur Performance Group, intended for non-professional adult members.

General Meetings With

Presentations

Four bimonthly meetings each season, beginning in September and ending in May. Following the business meeting at 9:30, special programs which are designed to appeal to piano performers, teachers, students and enthusiasts are presented. These are free and open to the public. Please join us!

Student Recitals

Three Student Recitals are scheduled each year - solo recitals in the Fall and Spring, and an ensemble recital in the Winter. Teaching members are encouraged to choose students who are ready with polished performances for these events. The recitals help students develop musicality and confidence.

Practice for Pets

Practice for Pets is a charitable and motivational event held during February for students of all ages. Students carefully log their hours of practice during the month and seek sponsors who pledge to pay money for those hours. At the month's end, all money raised is donated to the Asheville Humane Society.
